National Vocation Awareness Week will be celebrated in our country November 1-7, 2020. Please ask Our Lord for more dedicated, holy priests, deacons and consecrated men and women. May they be inspired by Jesus Christ, supported by our faith community, and respond generously to God’s gift of a vocation. In addition to Bishop’s video link above about creating a culture of vocation, each seminarian is recording a short video about themselves.
Bishop Cantú suggests that this project begins with us, and especially with our families. Each parish and school was presented with a Crucifix made specifically for this program. By encouraging our families to pray together and dialogue about our faith, our hope is that younger generations will open their hearts and minds to God’s plan for them and for the Church. We will begin this new tradition on the first Sunday of July and continue, we pray, for years to come. If you wish to join in this valuable effort of “Creating a Culture of Vocations” and schedule your week of prayer with our Vocation Crucifix, please contact Gillian Griffis either by phone (408) 223-1562 or email (ggriffis@dsj.org).
Twin brothers Giacomo and Davide Crespi have always been together, and May 25, 2019, was no different: side by side, along with three other seminary classmates, they received the sacrament of holy orders from their bishop, Gianfranco Agostino Gardin, in the diocese of Treviso, northern Italy.
