Shout outs from Fr. Rey Week of July 16th (15th Sunday OT)
SFOA community – You are AWESOME. Thank you for the warmest welcome I received on my first weekend. Even before I moved to this parish I have already heard lots of good things about the Community! May all of us continue to be awesome to one another because WE have an AWESOME GOD!
What’s up? This coming weeks I plan to meet groups as I begin to get to know the parish, its culture, and unique qualities and characteristics. This Saturday I am scheduled to meet with the worship coordinators, and liturgical coordinators to solicit their thoughts and aspirations about the community, and to have a good understanding of any concerns that may get into the way of their dreams for the parish. Understanding this will help me decide what would be the most realistic and life giving for the community.
Fiat Retreat: Calling all Catholic teen women in 9th to 12th grade. I invite you to explore the Lord’s call in your life at this year's Fiat Retreat July 21-23. This camp includes prayer, sports, talks, and more, all of which are designed not only to have fun with other young women, but to help you know Jesus even more deeply as well. For details, go to dsj.org/fiat .
Vocations Soccer Cup: Thank you to all who came to participate, to support the event, and to volunteer and help in this event. Congratulations to Fr. Andrew C. Nguyen and his team for a successful event! Photos of the game along with Bishop Cantú playing as goalie to kids trying to kick a soccer goal during the break can be accessed at https://www.dsj.org/catholic-life/vocations/soccercup/
Diocese of San Jose’s priests and parishes in transition, July 2023. Let us continue to keep in our prayers all the priests, including our very own Fr. Robain Lamba and yours truly, who are in transition, as they settle down in their new pastoral assignments.
Personal Retreat. I strongly encourage everyone to continuously nourish their spiritual needs. A personal retreat is the perfect way to unplug and reconnect with God. At the Santa Clara Retreat Center, you may personalize your retreat according to your needs. Options include directors, content, and dates.
