Lent is the season for Rice Bowls. The Rice Bowl campaign supports the world-wide efforts by Catholic Relief Services to hear the cry of the poor and to support grants to address hunger within our diocese. It is a way to engage personally as a part of your Lenten practice of meal-time prayer, sacrifice and alms sharing.
Rice Bowls and the enclosed Lenten calendar will be available in the lobby of St. Francis of Assisi starting the weekend of 19th March. Please pick one up, use it and return it when Lent gives way to Easter. For more information, including videos and meatless recipes, go to crsricebowl.org.
Rice Bowls support one of the seven goals of the Laudato Si Action Platform, “Hear the Cry of the Poor”. St. Francis of Assisi has enrolled in this Vatican initiative. If you would like to get involved, email the Stewards of Our Common Home, a committee of the Diocese of San Jose, at stewards.dsj@gmail.com.
