Infant Baptism
WELCOME TO ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI.
We are glad you have chosen
to baptize your child here!As you prepare to baptize your child, you are given the opportunity to reflect and
re-evaluate your commitment and discipleship in the Catholic faith.
Your example will mold the faith of your child.
It is such a special and sacred time, reminding us that we are all children of God and have an expressed covenant to participate in our Catholic Community.
***PLEASE NOTE:
Our Baptismal Coordinators & Parish Priests will
only accept inquiries from
the parents of the child to be baptized.
All contact should be through the parents of the child preparing for baptism as this will help streamline the application process. Thank you for your understanding!
Please plan ahead and allow at least two months
for the entire process. Read the instructions carefully.
A baptism date will be tentative
until all requirements have been met.

REQUIREMENTS & DOCUMENTS
Before a Baptism date can be confirmed
the following requirements must be met:- Completed Baptismal Request Form
- Child’s County Birth Certificate
- (a hospital certificate will be accepted if the child has just been born and the County has not issued the certificate. The County certificate must be sent in later)
- Signed Godparent Affirmation Letters
- Donation (see below)
- Completed Baptism Preparation Class
- a class certificate if taken at another parish
Process - Please bring all the requirements to the Parish office, or email the documents as attachments to lieu.vu@dsj.org
Once all documents are received you’ll be contacted within two weeks. Your Baptismal Coordinator will provide you with a scheduled class date, if needed, and a tentative baptismal date.
All three forms particular to St. Francis of Assisi Parish (General Instructions, Request Form, and Godparent Affirmation Letters) can be found in the left column of this webpage.
Delivery of documentation and donation:- At the Parish Office: (office hours Mon - Fri: 9:00-12:00 & 1:00 - 4:00). Please bring a clear copy of the birth certificate we can make a copy of the original.

BAPTISMAL DATES
(MOST Saturdays***)There is only one Baptismal Rite per Saturday.
We will begin promptly at 10:00 am.
We ask that everyone attending arrive at 9:45 am.
***NOTE: No Baptisms will be held on the following 2024 dates:
- October 5th - Special Event
- November 2nd - Mass of Remembrance
- November 30 - Thanksgiving weekend
LAST BAPTISMAL DATE OF 2024: December 14th -
Donations/Preparation
(Parishioners)Donation:- $120 – registered & active St. Francis of Assisi Parishioners (for at least 3 months)
BAPTISMAL PREPARATION CLASS:
Both Parents & Godparents must attend a Baptism Preparation Class.
The Baptismal Staff Coordinator will register you for the class.- Parents are responsible for notifying the godparents of the date and time.
- If you have taken a class within the last 3 years
- not required to take it again
- If taken here at St. Francis of Assisi provide us with
- child’s name
- baptism year
- If taken elsewhere we need to receive a copy of the certificate.
- Taking the Prep Class at another parish or online:
- Parents and godparents must take the same course
- we need a copy of the class certificate

Additional REqs
(Non-Parishioners &
Baptisms At Other Parishes)Donation:- $175 – non registered, or registered less than 3 months
Permission from ‘other Parish’ – if applicableIf you are registered at another Parish, but wish to baptize your child at St. Francis of Assisi, we will need a permission letter from the other Parish in order to baptize your child here.
Baptizing at a different parish,
but wish to take a Baptismal Preparation Class here?You may attend a class at SFOA if there is space available.
We will need the information on the date & church the child is to be baptized in. A donation of $25 will be required.
More information regarding the class itself will be provided if we are able to schedule you for a class.
