As you prepare to baptize your child, you are given the opportunity to reflect and
re-evaluate your commitment and discipleship in the Catholic faith. The fact that you are planning to baptize your child expresses your commitment to your faith. Your example will mold the faith of your child. It’s such a special and sacred time, reminding us that we are all children of God and have an expressed covenant to participate in our Catholic Community.
Please read the process carefully and plan ahead.
Process & Requirements: : All requirements (see Section A) must be completed at least one month prior to the date you'd like your child to be baptized.
Baptisms are on Saturday mornings at 10:00am - family and guests are expected to arrive at 9:45am.
NOTE on current availability:
- January 14th Vietnamese - no availability
- January 21st English - availability if all requirements completed by 1/10/23
- January 28th Spanish - availability if all requirements completed by 1/10/23
- February 4th English - no availability
- February 11th Vietnamese - availability if all requirements completed by 1/10/23
- February 18th - no availability
We are now scheduling Baptisms starting in April.
There are no Baptisms during Lent and until after Easter.
Please plan ahead and provide us with all requirements at least two months prior to the date you’d like.

A) Process - Please email the request form, and all required documents to Gillian - ggriffis@dsj.org
1. Plan ahead on the date you'd like your child to be baptized, make sure you can
complete all requirements one month prior to that date.
2. Email documents as PDF attachments, Mail in or drop the completed documents
at the Parish Office.
3. Baptism Prep Class: See Section C.
4. The donation can be mailed in by check or you can stop by the office to make the
donation. If Check: make it out to St. Francis of Assisi - write 'Baptism & child name'
on the Memo line.
B) Baptism Days - Saturdays *
There is one Baptismal Rite at 10 am.
We ask that everyone attending arrive at 9:45am.
*NOTE:
No Baptisms will be held on the following dates:
- During Lent or Easter week - February 22 - April 9
- May 6 and May 13 - First Eucharist
- June 17 - Special Mass
- September 30 - Feast Day
- Last Baptism date for 2023 will be December 16
C) Required Documentation
Required documentation to be scheduled for a baptism at St. Francis of Assisi:
NOTE: The date is considered Tentative until all requirements have been completed.
1. Baptismal Request Form
2. Child's County Birth Certificate
3. Signed godparent affirmation letters - one for each godparent (please
make sure the godparents meet the requirements noted on the back page)
4. Baptismal Prep Class Certificates if the class was taken at another church.
5. Donation
- $ 100 - The child's parents are registered and actively contributing parishioners
- $ 150 - non registered or registered less than 3 months
D) Baptism Preparation Classes
Both Parents & Godparents must attend a Baptism Preparation Class - Please provide the correct information on the second page of the Request Form.
Your donation includes the Zoom class offered by SFA..
Classes must be completed at least one month prior to the Baptism Date.
D) Permission Letter from another Parish
If you are registered at another Parish, but wish to baptize your child here at St. Francis of Assisi, please ask that they provide you with a permission letter.
